Murphy’s Law Strikes Again: Weird Crap is going to be the norm whenever you invite a couple of hundred thousand new best friends to visit you for for a big football game… Another theory I heard this week was that it has all been part of a yankee conspiracy to mess with Jerry Jones. (I’m kinda leaning toward that one…)

Sequence of events: We went from chilly but clear last Saturday night to ‘thunder sleet’ storms Monday night leaving 1.5″ of solid ice in my neighborhood and a giant headache for everybody associated with Super Bowl Week here in Arlington and Fort Worth. Side note: Thunder Sleet storms are really LOUD! Sounded like somebody slinging gravel against my window non-stop for hours.

We followed that experience with temperatures that went down to single digits, hence my favorite sentence from a weather person: “The high tomorrow will be…eight.” To top it all off there were balmy 40 mpg wind gusts, below zero wind chill for the entire week and 4″ of snow on top of the ice a day later. Wheeee, were we having fun or what!?

Oh, newsflash for smug people who live in eastern seaboard cities…Hello! This is Texas. This kind of stuff doesn’t happen here. Ever. And we just don’t HAVE snowplows. However, I would be interested to see how well you do up your way if it ever got to 111 … I’m just sayin’.

Anyway, we finally made it to Thursday, pretty much surviving on peppermint schnapps in hot chocolate, only to get 2 more inches of snow overnight. At least this time we didn’t have the 40 mph wind chill to deal with so we got to actually ENJOY the snow for the first time in almost a week. Take a look!
