The Primitive, rolled edge and heavily textured style has been calling strongly to me again and I finally found some time to indulge myself with this medium sized, shallow little beauty of a bowl.

It is highlighted by a weathered metallic finish in shades of Silver, Antique and Aztec Golds with streaks of Copper Patina. It is decorated with ridges and rolls of geometric texture that just make your fingers want to pet it like a cat, but it’s the stunning cobalt glaze that really stops you in your tracks…. That plus the soft iridescent pink dichroic glass center that shimmers and winks at you from the center.

In my mind, there’s just no greater example of selfless LOVE than Jesus making the sacrifice of His own life for ours. That is basically the whole purpose behind my Heart Crosses. The symbolism just speaks to me on so many levels that I am comforted, lifted up or given a sense of peace when I look at them…Just whatever I seem to need most.

Remembering My Friend Wally

I lost my sweet Walter the Bulldog a year ago this month. The day after he died I found myself in the studio, crying into my clay, trying to think about something other than how much I missed that big ol’ sweet lug and his wrinkly smile. Out of that sad afternoon came the inspiration for one of my most popular custom offerings, the Pet Memorial Crosses.

Nebula Bowl

This is my 2013 Empty Bowls donation piece that I call the Nebula Bowl. I named it that because it reminded me of the beautiful pictures of the Milky Way that have come from the Hubble Telescope. And because I’m a die hard original Star Trek nerd. What can I say?

Seriously though, it’s always an honor to participate in the Empty Bowls event because it allows me to help feed my neighbors in need. I’m very proud to say also that once again, my bowl sold for $100 in under 45 minutes. That means that I got to help provide over 400 meals to hungry people. Yay!
